ROSEANNE REID
"An outstanding songwriter"
- Steve Earle
"Mama" / "Bring Me Down”
Two deeply personal new songs arrive on the 19th August ahead of a special guest appearance with Steve Earle and a new album later this year.
Scottish singer-songwriter Roseanne Reid will release her new double A-side single, "Mama" and "Bring Me Down," on the 19th August, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter ahead of her forthcoming third studio album.
The two songs offer an intimate glimpse into Reid's latest songwriting, exploring themes of resilience, vulnerability and hope with the emotional honesty that has become her trademark.
Speaking about "Mama," Roseanne says:
"This song came as a result of immense hurt and pain. Suddenly, and inexplicably, I was a terrified child in the world again. Amongst the handful of places of refuge during that time, my incredible Mum was steadfast. I'm so glad I managed to capture that in a song.”
Reflecting on "Bring Me Down," she adds:
"I had a period of bad writer's block where I hadn't written anything in a few months. I got this song in one day after my life changed. It was cathartic at the time, and it still is to sing now. It takes me back to how it felt to be completely untethered, but able to have one eye on the horizon through music.”
The release comes just ahead of a special guest appearance with legendary American singer-songwriter Steve Earle at the Princess Alexandra Auditorium, Yarm, on 30th August, where Reid will perform the new songs alongside favourites from her acclaimed albums Trails and Lawside.
Over recent years, Roseanne Reid has established herself as one of the UK's most distinctive voices in contemporary folk and Americana. Celebrated for the emotional depth of her songwriting and her captivating live performances, she continues to build a reputation as one of Scotland's finest singer-songwriters.
With "Mama" and "Bring Me Down," Reid continues to explore life's most challenging moments with warmth, compassion and authenticity.
Her third studio album is currently being completed for release later this year.
